Recent Publications

Hannah's short story 'Sunny' was recently the featured story in Honeyguide Literary Magazine. The true story details the shocking demise of an unexpected, but much loved pet. Read it here.

Hannah also has two short stories in the most recent UTS Anthology, which was published in late 2022.

Hannah is currently working on a feature film screenplay and a new novel titled Grindstone.

One Page Bio

Hannah Ianniello is a writer, musician and academic from Sydney. Her fiction writing brings together her interest in language, music and character development, to produce moving narratives that draw the reader through her characters’ life-changing moments. She also has an interest in writing creative non-fiction and screenplays and is open to new styles and forms of writing in all her work.

 

Hannah has two works currently being edited for the next edition of the UTS Anthology – a creative non-fiction piece ‘Lambs to the Slaughter’ and a fiction short story ‘Beatrice’. In October last year, Hannah had a creative non-fiction piece ‘Sunny’ published as the feature story in a new literary magazine in the US, The Honeyguide Literary Magazine. She has previously published a short story titled ‘Swing’ in Southerly Literary Magazine, as well as two vignettes in The Vignette Review. 

 

Hannah has also published several book reviews in Southerly, three academic papers and two book chapters in academic publications. Hannah is a skilled screenwriter, and has been longlisted twice for the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition, and has won an award for a short screenplay she co-wrote with her husband, which was also turned into a 26-mintue short film. 

 

Hannah is also an accomplished singer, pianist and cellist and has performed in bands and solo across Australia. She has recorded and produced three albums of original songs and has recorded and performed as a session musician with many bands.

 

Hannah holds a Masters of Creative Writing as well as a PhD in creative writing and literature, and a Graduate Certificate of Editing and Publishing. She currently teaches creative and academic writing at a postgraduate level.
