THESIS EDITING

Dr Hannah Ianniello is a qualified editor with several years experience teaching academic writing and editing at a postgraduate level. She has taught scholarly writing and editing to students across many disciplines including Arts, Social Sciences, Education, Philosophy, Business, Medicine and Nursing. Hannah has had several publications in international journals and books for both academic writing and creative writing. 

 

Hannah’s own PhD was in Literature and Creative Writing, through which she wrote both a novel and an exegesis. As a result, she has a specialisation in editing Non-Traditional or Creative PhDs, Doctor of Creative Arts and Masters of Arts theses. In addition, Hannah has written and edited several screenplays and is able to edit screenwriting practice theses and creative works. Hannah also has a background in music theory and art history, and can adapt to cross-disciplinary studies when necessary.

 

As per the Guidelines for Editing Research Theses from the Institute of Professional Editors, there are limitations on the services available. Professional editors of research theses are restricted to copyediting and proofreading only. On matters of content, Hannah may draw attention to problems but will not offer solutions or corrections for these issues. Rates

In alignment with industry rates, Hannah charges $57 per hour for her thesis editing services. The number of hours required will depend on the depth of editing needed and the length of the thesis. In order to provide an accurate quote, Hannah requests the first five pages to do a sample edit and calculate timing and cost.

CREATIVE EDITING

Hannah is also able to provide copy edits or structural edits for creative works. She has a strong sense of narrative, character development and a keen eye for detail. Her own background in writing novels, shorts stories and screenplays mean these are her strengths, though she is interested in many creative formats.
